I can uninstall this virtual drive drive and get my real drive to appear and work, but after shutting the computer down and restarting, the virtual drive re-appears in Device Manager along with my actual drive.

It sounds as if you have some sort of virtual drive software installed that acsi the virtual CD on boot up. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.

If you can determine that, then one method of preventing the software from starting on bootup without uninstalling things that might cause other problems is to dvd-rkm Autorunsfind the entry for the “executable” in the “Logon” tab, and uncheck the box.
